municipalities and the consequent limits of mobility within the territories, murders, putting people at gunpoint, curfews, bombing of civilian houses as well
as the headquarters of the Palestinian National Authority, communication networks, economic infrastructures, arbitrary demolition of houses (prohibited by the 4th Geneva Convention),
construction of new settlements (this also prohibited by the same convention)and bypass roads (roads on which Palestinians are prohibited access, as a means of fragmenting the territories from each other),
appropriation of natural resources, water resources in particular.
All of this brings to mind the Apartheid regime in South Africa, which was brought down with great effort. Given the shameful silence and even explicit absence of international organizations regarding this military attack on a defenseless people, this
disproportionate deployment of imperial force against those who resist an occupation, let us recall the international resolutions of the United Nations itself.
We call upon the international civil society to activate mechanisms for peaceful intervention and grass-roots diplomacy in order to stop the isolation of the Palestinian people and devise a means of bringing to an end the occupation and the spiral of violence. We furthermore deem it necessary to build a campaign aimed at
the politcal and economic isolation of Israel.
Let's initiate a boycott campaign, on all politcal and commerical levels, against the Sharon government.
Let us build for the First National Day of Disobedience
Against Occupation and Apartheid, on Saturday February 2nd.
We summon the entire civil society, workers farmers, students, immigrants, temp-workers, unemployed, women, intellectuals, artists, rebellious multitudes so that we can raise once more the banner of humanity
against the Permanent Global War.
Let us Disobey the Occupation, Disobey Apartheid.
Free Palestine!
National Assembly of Ya Basta! For the People's Dignity Against Neoliberalism.
