On December 18th, about sixty people from the UK and USA, part of the
International Solidarity Movement, dismantled two roadblocks near the West Bank city of Nablus
(photo). They also sat between Israeli tanks and at Palestinian President Yasser Arafat's compound at Ramallah in the West Bank. They were protesting at Israeli violence towards Palestinian residents of the occupied territories. Shots were fired, according to Chris Dunham, a UK national, who
describes (mp3) the confrontation.
During this protest Israeli settlers
attacked two UK nationals as the roadblocks were removed and one protester was forcefully
arrested .
