At the same time, another two bulldozers accompanied by a few hundred Israeli soldiers, border police and special forces demolished two homes in western Shufat, a Jerusalem suburb, close to “Reches-Shufat”-colony. The first home belongs to Mustafa Abu ‘Al-Qam, his four sons and their families. The father had build the first floor before 1967 and around 1993 his sons built the second floor to reside. That same year they received a demolition order from the Israeli municipality and they managed to have a fine amounting 50,000 shekels (approx. 16,000 US$ at that time) to be paid up to the year 2002, in addition to the municipal taxes (Arnona). Eventhough there was a settlement between the family and the Israeli municipality, today, their home was demolished without any notice in advance.
The same circumstances applies to another family, Mustafa Abu Ne’a, a 54- years old diabetic and who suffers from Asthma. His 150 sq. meter home was demolished today without any notice in advance. Also, he paid 45,000 shekels (approx. 15,000 US$) on a 1,000 shekels per month basis. His wife is disabled and he lives with their eight children in the same building. They have tried to prevent the demolition today but the Israeli soldiers beated Mustafa’s son, Za’hed Abu Ne’a (22). The Israeli occupation forces brought workers with them and evacuated the two homes, a few minutes before the demolition and pushed the family out of their home.
At around 11.00am, Israeli bulldozers in Beit Hanina proceeded to the top of Tel al-Fool where they demolished a cement wall and another construction site in the area.
