@Bristol At it Again 30th Oct
With more than enough news to go round, @Bristol are having a busy time at the moment. Saturday 27th saw Bristol World Development Movement, a samba band and activists from Bristol Nestle Resistance arriving to protest and entertain. The day attracted large crowds, saw all the flyer we had handed out and loads of public support.
However, @Bristol aren’t happy with only taking sponsorship from Nestle and have hooked up with another controversial corporation - Rio Tinto. Rio Tinto has a long history of anti-environmental and anti-union activity (see here for example), a good example being the involvement in the Papua New Gina Government (see here for example), show in the film 'The Coconut Revolution'.
@Bristol's recent series of debates, including the on the 'biodiversity' on Tuesday 20th November at 7.30pm (Chair: JONATHAN DIMBLEBY) is 'supported by Rio Tinto'. Arrgh!
P.S: In addition local Bristol News-sheet, 'The Bristolian' are reporting the mysterious loss of a statue of a slave trader and Quakers William Penn. (see The Bristolian)
