Following the march around Oxford to protest the continued detention of refugees at the Campsfield Maximum Security Prison, a group of less than ten wombles, not wearing white overalls, marched on Campsfield House where we were met by a line of 30 police, a dog and an extra 4 riot vans. We informed the police that we intended to attach a banner to the gates, and to leave flowers in memory of the 58 refugees who died in the back of a lorry crossing into Dover.

We were refused access to the road to Campsfield, on the basis that it was "Crown Land". We gave the flowers to the police and declined their offer to attach the banner to the railings attached at the top of the road. We then marched back towards Kidlington, accompanied by Officers on foot and a number of vans. A van followed the bus until we reached Oxford.

We were told that Group 4 has threatened to stop visits to detainees while there are protests. This makes us hate Group 4 and Campsfield even more and we remain committed in our opposition to the detention of asylum seekers and refugees who are guilty of no crime, and are subjected to punitive regimes by Group 4 scum.
