"The loss to London's economy was estimated at £10 million even before the protests" reports London's Evening Standard
The calculator slappers have been at it already, estimating the "costs" of today's protests in London. The figure reported by the Evening Standard is a staggering £10 million pounds. Where do these figures come from? Is it lost business on a Tuesday afternoon on Oxford St? Perhaps the shops should have stayed open so they could sell a few burgers and "My Anarchist Boyfriend Went to London and all he got was Truncheoned" t-shirts.
Is it the predicted cost of repairs? Surely they haven't come to a conclusion about that on Mayday morning?
Is it the cost of boarding up windows across the capital? Well, that has gone into the back-pockets of a few.
I tell you what it is - it is the cost of media and police hyperbole designed to panic everyone. EVERYONE is the target for police and media fear. We sleep poorly at night because the media tells us to - "Don't have nightmares"
Have a fun Mayday one and all! Do not fear it! Struggle is the route to a happier future. It is the ONLY route to the future.
