At 2pm on 13th August, five men and one woman disrobed for the second time in a month to press for relaxation of nudity laws in Britain, by the appropriately chosen 'Physical Energy' statue. This follows on from their action in July outside Scotland Yard, and the police were a little less aggressive than they have been of late. Indeed, after about ten minutes, the protesters decided to move to the Albert Hall, at which point the police command seemed to lose co-ordination altogether, leaving the campaigners free to walk unapprehended all the way to the South Kensington museum cluster.
After about half an hour, the police regained their orientation and proceeded to issue warnings, read out 'rights', as if we had any, and arrest [i think] three of the number. Rumor, and this is only a rumor so far, is that they could be up for a maximum of seven years for so-called public indecency.
In fact, the public seemed to have no objections at all, and one passer by stopped, undreessed in his car and briefly hopped around in support.
Disappointing to say, the conventional left failed to show up. They are clearly afraid that the Labourite trades unions will recoil in shock at any movement which challenges the social order, which is perhaps why they hevent achieved any support among radicals.
