Photos - Oil Spill to save wildlife ?

Shortly after midday on Saturday the 3rd Feb, environmental activists defaced a Shell Oil sponsored photo exhibition and called on the Natural History Museum to drop it's greenwashing deal with the oil giant.

While a banner was dropped in the main hall and 600 leaflets handed out to members of the public, an oil like substance was sprayed over the wildlife photos in the Shell sponsored exhibition. There were a large number of security personnel present and some of the protesters were assaulted by panicking museum staff and members of the public but there were no arrests.

The action follows the publication of Shell's 2006 record breaking financial figures and the release of the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change fourth report which yet again suggests that climate change is happening faster then previously predicted.

Critical Mass London January ride.

You never know what the police are going to do next on the London ride. They clamp down on some things and relax on others from one month to the next and from one part of the ride to another. 'Shambolic' is perhaps the word that best describes their behaviour. They seem at times to behave more like Anarchists than the riders. You would think with their radios they could at least arrive at some sort of a consensus. In addition to our usual police overkill the Forward Intelligence Team were also in attendance at the South Bank, poking their cameras in people's faces. All this just because of a bike ride! Congestion charge to travel outwards from the zone

Apparently the increase in the congestion charge zone to include West London
will decrease revenue due to the increase in exemptions as more residents are included within the zone. Perhaps having a charge to travel outwards from within the zone as well as a pollution charge could assist with revenues as well as decreasing traffic especially in areas outside the congestion charge zone.
