"Bring Back Slavery"?

It has been reported in the press that at a National Union of Students (NUS) event this summer, Nottingham University Students' Union, Education Officer, Craig Cox, held up a poster saying 'Bring back slavery'. The NUS subsequently removed Craig Cox from the event following complaints from other student representatives present. Our Student Union officers attending NUS events are there to represent all Nottingham students. We believe that such behaviour is unacceptable and does not reflect our views.

A regular play space for practice, sharing, teaching + learning circus skills(and related ting like magic, propmaking, etc);is starting on Tuesdays, at the Sumac Centre.
This is open for all but especially for those opting out of school or work. There are much better things to do and this is one of them.

Vegan Skillshare - Saturday 13th September 2008

A day of practical skill sharing for food-based vegan campaigning,
from samples on street stalls, through food fairs, to running a small
vegan catering service.

Anyone interested in food campaigning, including supporters of Animal
Aid, Vegan Society, Viva, Vegetarian Society, Food Not Bombs, Climate
Campaigners, Eco Activists, Peace Campaigners and anyone working for
Social Justice will find this a valuable opportunity for networking
and the sharing of practical skills and experiences.

A program of talks and workshops designed to guide you from your first
tentative steps into food campaigning through to a more organised and
adventurous level of activity. Arrivals welcome from 10am, or arrange
to join at the appropriate time in the structured timetable.

Comment on University Communication on Recent Events

As concerned academics at the School of Politics and International Relations at the University of Nottingham who have been involved in the campaign for academic freedom and the release of Hicham Yezza in the wake of the false terror arrests at our university last week, we request that the Registrar, Dr. Paul Greatrix, amends the statement that he is currently circulating in response to letters of concern sent by academics from across the world to the University of Nottingham. The statement contains a number of inconsistencies, and we feel it necessary to point these out, both to Dr. Greatrix, and to the wider public.

Nottingham Animal Rights, working in conjunction with Lincoln Animal Rights, will be holding events as part of the annual P&G day of action as organised by Uncaged Campaigns. Nottingham Uni: The Veggie's Friend (Interview)

The University of Nottingham was recently voted the Number 1 "Most Vegetarian-Friendly UK University," in a poll conducted by Peta2, the youth wing of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). In achieving first place, Nottingham beat Glasgow University, which has Vegan Society accreditation, into second place.

According to Peta2, the university has been "working alongside Vegsoc – Nottingham University Vegetarian and Vegan Society." Alex Claridge, the society's social security was kind enough to answer a few questions about what the group have actually been doing.
