Arms fair opens in London to wave of protest
http://www.caat.org.uk/press/recent.php?url=110907prs An international arms fair opening in London today was met with a wave of protest from local residents, community leaders, politicians and Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT). The comedian and writer Mark Thomas addressed a peaceful demonstration organised by CAAT outside the event. The fair, Defence Systems and Equipment International (DSEi), will run from today until Friday at the Excel Centre in Newham, east London.

Since the original version of this article two and a half months ago more information has emarged about the links between the Ex-CEO of Comverse Technologies who own Verint, the CCTV contractors, and the Israeli military. Jacob 'Kobi' Alexaneder, it has emerged, was a senior officer in the Israeli Army. Verint have still failed to submit their accounts to the SEC who oversee the activities of the New York Stock Exchange and Metronet Rail who had the 30 year CCTV contract witrh Verint have gone into liquidation.

On the eve of DSEi - the world's biggest arms fair, Jane's 'Defence' are hosting a conference on corporate wars in 2020 and beyond which in their own words is "the definitive event assessing priorities for defence ministries and business opportunities for those who supply defence equipment", but it might just as well be "more wars for less oil".
