Despite todays Mccarthyism .... £3 subscription to support Corbyn by tuesday!

seeylatertracheers | 07.08.2015 15:00 | Globalisation | Repression | Social Struggles | London

Current leadership of the Labour party bounced by a panicked media into sending lists of new members, supporters, etc to local MPs to "check" - but lumped together Tory "entryists" claiming to be "subverting" labour by making it unelectable" (*!) with the rest of us ! The last day to register as a supporter - so to have a vote in the labour party leadership election - is this Tuesday !!th Aug.

Today a variety of people who were wrongly described as trying to "subvert" Labours leadership election protested after the Labour MPs to whom some lists of new members, supporters etc were sent - questioned how genuine their intentions were---- seemingly trying to put off more from joining!

The lists were sent out after it seems that the temporary labour leadership was bounced by "somewhat biased " - but in truth - increasingly panicked media.

Its comprehensible that Tory Telegraph columnists who have paid their three quid then clicked a mouse to sign up claim to be voting Corbyn "to undermine Labour by lumbering it with somebody unelectable" COULD be described as trying to "subvert" labour - seeing as- IF THAT WERE TRUE (*!) - it might make people more likely to vote Tory - but the !8 people who were this morning accused of "once having been members of Left Unity" could hardly be put in that category - seeing as if the labour leadership candidate they quite openly declare their support for DOES win - as seems increasingly possible - then, logically - by the same reasoning - that might make LESS people vote for their previous party. A bloody weird self-defeating "subversion" -if subversion" at all.

Loads of us have tried lots of different groups - even parties - even voted tactically - (or even voted! - but are very UNSUBVERTING of the spirit of the labour party , movement , etc - the problem shouldn't be seen as the "trying again"- but "the giving up!"

Add your voice to protest that response at labour HQ - a brief abberration I'm sure - for all their faults they might be a bit kneejerk centralist - that's national offices for you - but they are neither Stalinist or McCarthyite REALLY ....

As crucially - moreso - NEXT TUESDAY !! AUGUST is the deadline for registering as a "supporter" . That three quid. Also ringing round your mates to get them to. ETC. Well - actually - its midday of the twelth - but I thought if I said the eleventh - look, this really matters - etc etc JUST DO!
Then the voting papers get sent out a few days later for the actual voting deadline September !2.

The "supporting" member category came about because of the media putting pressure upon labour about its links with the unions - a major miscalculation as some of them might be thinking recently. Ironically the soft left "CAMPAIGN" group - that Corbyn ii a member of - was against that particular change!

Registering as a supporter - all you "unjoiners" out there - (like me!) -doesn't mean signing away your soul - or even becoming a member - that's a bit more expensive - but if you've ever voted labour in hope - then do.

If you've ever been on a big demo - ditto - Corbyn was probably there too - as likely holding up half a banner somewhere down the march as appearing briefly from the stage - or at the seeming all-night meetings keeping the umbrella group coalitions together as they make the big policy decisions all the way to where the portaloos are positioned ! More about the lucky fluke of him being in the election at all later - they often say the best leaders are those who don't push themselves forwards - he didn't - ! - but this is about a load more of us breaking a habit to actually register in time! Despite the backspin!

* Bringing me to the asterisk .You remember - up there with the "Tory Telegraph columnist claims to be voting Corbyn to wreck labour". He might even have thought that - then - but I doubt he's so sure today . The picture editors don't seem to think so -Ive never seen such a lot of "worst possible pictures" of somebody in a short space of time in my entire life! SUDDENLY vastly older, uncertain seeming - increasingly unwell - pale - like a reverse Dorian Grey. Reassuringly - when you see him around - or on the box these days - he seems fine - as ever. Probasbly never thought it was about the beauty contest either though.

Its the debate - the PUBLIC debate. The ideas - the facts. in a five year fixed term - the trivia, the distractions, the chaff wont be able to suppress issues that resonate with people when put again then again then again - particularly when put by all of us - more of us - more energised than we ever have been before because ITS WORTH IT. Positive instead of just defensive - D O - A B L E ! So lets. . . .
BY !!/8/15. That's Tuesday. Okay midday the next day latest.
Oh .... also .... could you re-post ... cheers ...seeylatertracheers
