You are warmly invited to join a talk and discussion on the situation in Syria, followed by a planning meeting, on Wednesday 27th November, from 6.30 to 9.30pm.

Venue: London Action Resource Centre (LARC), 62 Fieldgate Street (corner of Parfett Street), Whitechapel, London E1 1ES

Talk and discussion on the Syrian crisis (6.30-7.45pm):

Rami Hussein (see bio below) will speak about the ongoing crisis in Syria and the humanitarian and political situation in the country. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity for questions and discussion.

Bio: Rami is an Anglo-Syrian brought up in Damascus. He studied medicine at Damascus University and left Syria in 1990 to continue his medical education in the UK, and to live - in his words - in a "relatively freer country". He is an orthopaedic surgeon practicing in the UK, and is married with 3 children, the oldest of whom is nine. Rami says he has been opposed to corruption since well before the Syrian revolution started, and has been a supporter of non-violent protests from the beginning of the revolution. He is a member of the Syrian National Coordination Body, which he says is against violence, sectarianism and foreign military intervention in Syria, and calls for a peaceful transition of power to democratic civil government. He is also a member of the Syrian Medical Committee.

Planning Meeting (7.45-9.30pm):

After the talk and discussion, we will continue to make plans for our upcoming Peace Pilgrimage for Syria, to take place in central London on Tuesday 10th December, International Human Rights Day.

For more details of this action, please visit our new website:

n.b. This is a free event, but a donation towards the upkeep of the LARC would be welcome.
Also, please note that our group is new and currently operates without any funds, so any donations towards our expenses, e.g. for flyer and poster printing, would be very welcome.

In peace and solidarity,
Syria Peace and Justice group
