The Eyes don't have it at all

NotintheEye | 15.09.2013 15:38 | Indymedia | Other Press | Social Struggles | London | World

The ‘satirical’ English fortnightly Private Eye carries a small column each issue containing about 8-10 items under the heading of Rotten Boroughs.
Those items are neither the hottest topics nor do they reflect what
the borough councils get up to when most of the voters aren't looking.

So what do Joe and Josephine the Public do?
They may make a complaint to the given Council.
And then if they aren't happy, they can tell what is supposed to be the
local Government Ombudsman.
But does the Ombudsman deliver?

Welfare and Democracy being two of the most directly relevant areas affecting the lives of people in the English boroughs, it would be reasonable to expect the Ombudsman to make such adjudication that make it to the National Media headlines.

It is quite hard to recall an event from the past 20 years which got to the Nation’s breakfast table resulting from rigorous regulation exercise done by the Local Government Ombudsman.

So where do Jo or Josephine turn to?
