The McDonaldization of Society ( or would I say McDonaldization of 'Neuro.....

26-10-2006 18:43

The McDonaldization of Society ( or would I say McDonaldization of
'NeuroDiversity', 'Difference', DisAbility.)......

I wonder if the creators of 'The-Borg', within StarTrek; The Next Generation based their ideas on 'The-Borg' (The-Collective), from the ideas of Ritzer and 'McDonalisation', or was it reallly that 'the-truth' is that these ideas came from the 'Ivory-Towers' within East Riding of Yorkshire Council..."Resistance is Futile"..... that's how I feel living 'with' this Oppressive lot here....

Report to UN Disability Convention on use of ASBO's/Injunctions against Disabled

13-10-2006 15:18

There is a continued misue and abuse and 'criminalisation of disabled peoples behaviour' of using ASBO's and Injunctions against all disabled people (both Children and Adults). I myself as a disabled people basic human rights and civil liberities activist and researcher have experienced this here in the East Riding of Yorkshire, UK.

In my voluntary work within the UN Disability Convention I have brought this to the attention (again) of the UN Convention and you can read my emailed report that I have sent today to some of my colleagues and peers within the UN Disability Convention and Disabled People's Movement and also Anne McGuire, Minister for Disabled People

Life at the Climate Camp - a personal perspective

30-08-2006 20:06

I think it's important to get across to others not here, that this camp is a great example of people working together to create a vibrant living environment. It's probably been noted elsewhere in reports on Indymedia or other websites, but I've been really impressed with the whole set-up here - from disabled compost loos, to fab food served up three times a day without fail at each of the five camp neighbourhood kitchens, to impromptu singing sessions at night, to kids play and workshop areas, to an Indymedia field media centre complete with satellite link-up. And not to mention the impressive array of workshops about different aspects of climate change going on every day.
