The Spirit of Revolt: Bakunin
Speakers: Brian Morris (author of book on Bakunin) and speaker from Anarchist Federation
convened by London group of Anarchist Federation and South east England Region of Anarchist Federation
1pm Sunday June 29th
At the Common House Unit E, 5 Punderson Gardens, London, E2 (nearest tube Bethnal Green)
Disabled access to both meetings.
An introduction to the life and ideas of Mikhail Bakunin, one of the founders of modern anarchism. We look at Bakunin's life devoted to revolt and rebellion and his progress towards developing ideas of libertarian
socialism in the last decades of his life. The development of Bakunin's anarchist positions were not created in isolation but in dynamic exchange with advanced workers within the first international mass organisation of the working class, the First international.

We look at his perceptive insights and at what still remains relevant within his writings. We will adopt a critical attitude to his contributions to anarchism, avoiding a blind hero-worship. All welcome.

... utter and complete indifference by 99.99% of the UK population

Bakunin was laughable back in 1876 when he died and to suggest he has something relevent to 21st century Britain shows how deluded and out of touch the anarchist movement is in this country.

The world has moved on and British anarchism is still debating 19th century Russian peasant politics - what a laugh.

Realist
