I wrote to my MP regarding the harrrassment of Barbara Tucker

Paul O'Hanlon | 13.07.2012 20:02 | SOCPA | Anti-militarism | Iraq | South Coast | World

I went to see my MP Mark Lazarowicz (Labour, Edinburgh North and Leith) and asked him if he could stop the harassment of Barbara – she’s not even allowed blankets now. He’s going to write to Home Secretary Theresa May - if that will do any good. MPs are off on their summer break now. I would love to see them trying to sleep in a chair with no blankets and no umbrella for just one night never mind the 175 days Barbara has had no shelter. She has been arrested 45 times in her six and a half years in the Square – for advocating peace!

Friday 13th July 2012

Mark Lazarowicz MP (Labour, Edinburgh North and Leith)
Constituency Office
5 Croall Place,
Edinburgh
EH7 4LT

Dear Mr Lazarowicz

I am greatly concerned with the continuing harrrassment of Mrs Barbara Tucker in London’s Parliament Square. She maintains a 24/7 peace vigil as you know and has been arrested a total of 45 times in her six and a half years on the campaign.

She has been denied a tent, a sleeping bag and now incredibly even blankets. Even homeless people are entitled to a sleeping bag.

The simple truth is that the authorities (both Labour MPs and Conservative MPs) cannot bear to be reminded of the lies that were told in the run up to the 2003 illegal attack on Iraq. They would wish the demonstration would go away but it is not going away anytime soon.

The US and its allies are pressing for regime change in Syria and may well attack Iran this summer – an extremely dangerous thing to do. That is why there is a need for campaigners like Barbara.

I urge that the Harassment of Barbara Tucker who poses no threat to anyone be ended. Could you approach the Home Secretary (Theresa May) re this matter?

As a point of interest the electricity and water supply in Iraq have not been sorted out a whole decade after the illegal attack. People are suffering in 46 degree heat (110 degrees Fahrenheit) with filthy water and the after effects of depleted uranium in Fallujah.

Yours Sincerely, Paul O’Hanlon

Lol! Are your serious?

Notice how electricity production his increase in the last decade (by multiple times).
The 'shortages' are the same reason will are predicted to have shortages in 2018..... lack of production to meet growing demand. The demand has increased so much due to the booming economy.

Do some research before parroting what you see in the news and just drawing dumb conclusions.

Missing reality - not looking at what is actually happening

13.07.2012 23:09

It is all very well and good to go "Stop the war!" x100
.... if you keep your eyes completely blinkered to the state of the world.

We did that shit at the start of WW2.
France had a much bigger army than germany. English pissed about and wouldn't make any decisions. Germany managed to walk over and completely invade a country (france) that was much stronger than they were........... And guess what: they had their "stop the war!" idiots in france too.

Target close

"Do some research before parroting what you see in the news and just drawing dumb conclusions."

Erm, that is really lame!

From the article 'wot you linked to':

"As of December 2011, the output of electricity sector in Iraq averages more than 8,500 MW, while the demand is typically more than 14,000 MW.[1]"

Notwithstanding that electricity supply in Iraq was stable before the Yanks punched a hole in it, the total supply of electricity in Iraq does not equate to total demand. That is seriously effected by the fact that the majority in Iraq do not live in plush cities but in unstable rural areas where water and electricity supply is a constant nightmare to get in any stable way.

You assume that everybody in Iraq lives in a lovely well equipped house in a city and pays for their electricity by direct debit while sipping cappucino on the veranda.

In case you hadn't noticed, there was this war and what happened was....etc etc!

Good lord!

demand has grown

Yes. But, supply hasn't gone down because of bombs (as you suggest). Rather, supply has gone up dramatically. Demand for electricity has been stimulated by a growing economy and a surge in consumer purchases of appliances and electronics. And electricity is subsidised in Iraq, so there is going to be a huge demand for it.

Syria

I think more likely they will attack Syria. At least they will be wanting that to fall (in whichever way) before attacking Iran.

yeah but

Ive met her and, just like Brian, if you slightly disagree with her on even the smalest thing she screams at you, shes a ranting nutter, proofe that sitting on a traffic island for six years makes you potty.

Now even if she said something I agreed with I would disagree just to piss her off.
