Great to see these scum turned out of the homes they have squatted and the people of the Netherlands regaining their communities. This law had the support of about 80% of the Dutch people and the ratings of the government jumped 11 points when the first eviction took place.

Go Amsterdam !

re support's bullshit comment

18.06.2012 11:51

what the fuck are you talking about you wanker?

the dutch public was split 50/50 over whether they wanted squatting criminalised. the figure would be a lot less in favour of criminalisation had there not been a concerted campaign stretching over years in which the mainstream press were spoonfed racist untrue stories about boobytrapped squats and foreign squatters.

i know you are just some right wing scumbag making bullshit comments, but the problem is squatting is direct action against capitalism and in a time of austerity more people will squat and turn to anarchist organisation, which is about co-operation and mutual aid.

so fuck off with your rubbish opinions - only in amsterdam is the new law implemented and there are plenty of new squats elsewhere. squatting in NL isn't over by any assessment.

thanks to the OP. i'll go check indymedia.nl now xx

These people devalue neighbourhoods

Hopefully police will take the kid gloves off, who cares if they barricade themselves inside. Nothing a few cannisters of tear gas can't sort out, flush em out and then baton charge them.

Squatting = Theft

50/50 ????

18.06.2012 14:27

The idea that we are split 50/50 on the squatting issue is very very funny. Squatters are HATED in Netherlands with many stories of people having their offices, warehouses, and even homes taken over followed by a long legal fight to get them out.

This law was very popular when it was introduced and has massive support in the country. The anarchists who have been living for free while ordinary Dutch people have to pay for their houses are now getting their "Eerlijke en rechtvaardige justitie".

villa friekens under threat

18.06.2012 22:41

oh shit, villa friekens might get evicted, on the initiative of the state rather than the owner - that sucks

here's a bad internets translation of the ravage (althernative media) story:

 http://www.ravagedigitaal.org/2012nieuws/01-juni/03/nws.php

Friekens vacated because the prosecutor wants

AMSTERDAM, SE 3 JUNI 2012 - Villa Friekens in Amsterdam-Noord, the justice added to the list of this month to vacate squats. A senseless operation as there are no concrete plans for the site.

"Friekens cleared for vacancy. Under this headline calling the residents and users of the tenth anniversary of the cracked area Kadoelenweg in Amsterdam-North sympathizers on their signatures to place a petition. It is one of the means of standing scheduled for 20 June to avoid eviction.

Reportedly this is not senseless expertise at the request of the owner, Imtech Building Services BV West, but at the insistence of the prosecution of Amsterdam. It is the police themselves that the owner has abandoned the premises with the offer to its hangar at the former Land Kiekens evacuated condition. Imtech will then need only to ensure that the land was not re-cracked.

A curious state of affairs, since the city council in the past has indicated no squats to vacate where no immediate plans for it. No vacancy for eviction so, though this administrative appointment in the practice violated. The list of properties as directed by the cracker ban has since been vacated and unoccupied, has become impressive.

Besides the squatters is the SP of North district council not amused. "These people should not of such a field to chase the fallow years then leave. Then you wait until the crisis is over and it can be built," says SP leader Daniel Peters. "This is one of those unique fringes in the city."

When questioned, the SP was the district council of Amsterdam North also surprised about the upcoming eviction. There are no new plans in the district known. In 2009 the original building plan was withdrawn because of the economic crisis. City borough Rob Post is, partly at the request of the SP, the evacuation in conversation with the mayor.

Even residents of the cracked sanctuary are not waiting for an evacuation. They are terrified that if in the future once homes are built on Kadoelenweg 360, the adjacent Wilmkebreekpolder the kick goes. This represents a unique unprotected nature of 400 years old, owned by developer Amvest. Preservation of Nature has placed a bid on the polder, but Amvest asked too much.
