guidance on using tasers is vague but this doens't seem to be a situation which merits use of a potentially lethal weapon...

Check out the 400 odd comments its generated, all pretty much from US military and police types, the site seems to be an American services forum. most comments saying the British police are way too lenient, politely paraphrasing at best there.

Public sector workers doing what public sector workers do; enforcing the will of society with their monopoly on violence. Had they been privet security guards, you would have a perfect right of self defence, especially when they threatened use of a fire arm. There was a lot of hysterical screaming but you know that assaulting an officer of the state is a very serious offence, which can not be justified because they are the police and that is that!

We can expect a lot more of this sort of stuff as the public sector expands.
