Police brutality at Bristol squat eviction (liveleak video)

passerby | 02.04.2012 23:12 | Policing | Repression | Social Struggles

From liveleak.com: 'They unlawfully entered, partied all night, were told to leave prior by other police. Resulted in some scuffles, a little pavement-face action and a girl dragged away in a headlock.
Many UK wannabe 'freeman' types were going nuts on youtube, while forgetting the basic concept of unlawful entry and loss.'

YT text:
"Here you see the UNLAWFUL eviction of a mansion in Clifton, Bristol. A
tazer was pulled on a 17 old boy, and his girl friend dragged off up the
road in a choke hold around her neck.not sure what the reason was for
that, It starts off with one man being arrested then another man tried
to stand in the way of the police. That man was thrown to the ground,
THEN IT JUST KICKED OFF.
There was a party the night before and the
police turned up without a court order or a signed warrant. I did ask
the highest ranking police man there, why was they at this location, but
they didnt tell any one what the reasons were"

fuxsake, that video is sickening. talk to a good solicitor ASAP, sue their bollox off.

guidance on using tasers is vague but this doens't seem to be a situation which merits use of a potentially lethal weapon...

"Guidelines from the Association of Chief Police Officers (Acpo) for police Taser use are "slightly fuzzy", according to Amnesty. The guidelines state that Tasers can only be deployed during "non-firearms situations involving violence or threats of violence of such severity that they would need to use force to protect the public, themselves or the subjects". This is such a wide definition that Tasers could be drawn in all kinds of cases where police would have used traditional methods, such as negotiation or batons. Sprague fears Tasers represent a "slippery slope" in which police become over-reliant on this quick technical fix, which makes them less engaged with – and more likely to alienate – the people they are policing. While "red-dotting" might be a useful deterrent, Sprague points out that threatening to use a Taser is as serious as firing it. "If you can get instant compliance by just pointing a Taser then there's a strong argument for drawing it immediately," he says. Suddenly, policing by consent becomes policing by compliance."

"Certainly, they should not be used for crowd control -- as the Association of Chief Police Officer's (ACPO) own guidelines states. Christian Papaleontiou of the Home Office's policing directorate reiterated this to MPs last year. Speaking to the home affairs select committee, he said:
We again support the ACPO guidance, which is very clear that Tasers should not be used in terms of a crowd control measure in public order scenarios."

You dirty cop lover. It's plain in the video that the blonde woman taps him on the forehead to say hey what the fuck are you doing to my friend, it's as simple as that.

my arse

Darn it

Good point, how silly of me I forgot assault was only possible when it occurs from a cop to a protestor, thanks for correcting me. I stand duly admonished.

About the Video link???

03.04.2012 16:25

Couple of questions;

Does anyone know anything about the site this video is posted up at? Liveleak.com

Check out the 400 odd comments its generated, all pretty much from US military and police types, the site seems to be an American services forum. most comments saying the British police are way too lenient, politely paraphrasing at best there.

There is youtube footage of this and am wondering why that link hasn't been supplied?

Am I getting too paranoid about some Occupy and freeman on the land types, and that's rhetorical really

Curious

Public sector workers doing what public sector workers do; enforcing the will of society with their monopoly on violence. Had they been privet security guards, you would have a perfect right of self defence, especially when they threatened use of a fire arm. There was a lot of hysterical screaming but you know that assaulting an officer of the state is a very serious offence, which can not be justified because they are the police and that is that!

We can expect a lot more of this sort of stuff as the public sector expands.
