The Real Transition Handbook

Countryside Anarchist | 31.03.2012 19:38 | Ecology | Education | Energy Crisis

The Real Transition Handbook offers an more realistic guide to coping with transition.

Alas, it seems to me there will be no smooth transition to a brave new world. We have gone way too far down the slope of self destruction and are pressing full steam ahead.

Instead it seems likely there will be a traumatic collapse sometime between now and 2020 (judging by the International Energy Agency forecasts) followed by a period of chaos of unknown duration before something new emerges from the ashes. If you are not aware of this, perhaps take the time to acquaint yourself. (Dmitry Orlov is a good place to start)

With this in mind I have written what I consider to be a more realistic Transition Handbook. There's a lot more I'd like to put in it, and I will be expanding it over time, but for now I have focused on the main priority: food.

It is available for free at:  http://www.countryside-anarchist.co.uk/Writings/realtransition.html

Hope its of use.

'Alas, it seems to me there will be no smooth transition to a brave new world. We have gone way too far down the slope of self destruction and are pressing full steam ahead. ' - couldn't agree more.

Although, the poo will hit the fan before 2020 I can tell you.

I've been told by multiple sources, always spot on in their advice and predictions. The reserve currency of this planets financial system will be dead by 2013 and the euro will be sure to follow.

Once this happens, this chaos you talk of will take place. The duration; will be long after anyones lifetime who's reading this. It will be our children's children's children who will be able to begin steering things in a brighter direction.

My advice is to yes, first and foremost, become self sustained on this planet as fas as you possibly can be. Although, I think you fail to realize it will be a near impossible task to grow veg anywhere near any council estates once tshtf, what would we do about the millions of headless chickens running round looking for food to steal?

What will we do to protect ourselves if such things are to happen?

How will we procure enough resources and materials neccessary for our existence if they aren't given to us on a plate?

How would we live without power?

The human existence once had this shit sorted, it is by design that the majority now don't.

I hope we're wrong about our ideas of what will happen in the forecoming years, what a joy that would be.
