Calling language checkers and translators!

Just Do It Film | 12.05.2011 23:05 | Climate Chaos | Culture | South Coast

Just Do It, the upcoming documentary about environmental direct action from director Emily James needs your help. We want as many people as possible - the world over - to see this film. We're doing foreign language subtitles for the DVD to make it accessible to as many different people as we can. So far our quest for translators and language checkers has been incredibly fruitful. But we're now running very close to the deadline, and are missing some vital checkers. Please help!

The world of environmental direct action has remained a secretive one, until now. Emily James spent over a year embedded in activist groups such as Climate Camp and Plane Stupid to document their clandestine activities. With unprecedented access, Just do It takes you on an astonishing journey behind the scenes of a community of people who refuse to sit back and allow the destruction of their world. Torpedoing the tired clichés of the environmental movement, Just Do It introduces you to a powerful cast of mischievous and inspiring characters who put their bodies in the way; they super-glue themselves to bank trading floors, blockade factories and attack coal power stations en-masse, despite the very real threat of arrest. Their adventures will entertain, illuminate and inspire.

Just Do It is a completely independent, grassroots, crowd-funded project with a slate of indie film giants on board, including our Supervising Editor Kurt Engfehr (Michael Moore's editor), and our Executive Producers Christo Hird and Chris Atkins. Thanks to our groundbreaking production model and unparalleled access, the film's already been making quite a splash, with shed loads of mainstream and online press getting excited about the release.

Please have a look at our current website www.just-do-it.org.uk to find out much much more.

Our aim is for one million people to see the film in the year after it is released. With this in mind, and with our extensive cinema and festival release in sight, we’re looking for translators to translate our English transcript so that we can subtitle the film. We want to make sure as many people as possible, the world over, get to enjoy it.

We are still looking for a translator from English to Hindi.

And we urgently need translation checkers for:

Italian

Greek

Turkish

Spanish

Mandarin

Arabic

Russian

Checking will take place between 16th-20th May.

Checking will take 1 day at ITFC subtitling facilities in Hounslow. ITFC have a proven track record so this is a great opportunity to meet them and see how they work - perfect if you're looking to get into foreign language translation.

Due to the nature of our production and distribution model ( http://just-do-it.org.uk/ourprocess) we can only offer expenses, but we can offer a great experience working with a professional crew on a totally unique film.
