It's a fucked up story I agree, though viewers are reminded that this is being circulated on the EDL forums and the poster above is solely using this for their xenophobic, anti-muslim crusade.
I am sure there are dozens and dozens of articles of animal neglect and abuse by "white christians" though objective analysis is not the EDL's strong point.

You are barking up the wrong tree entirely. I put this up and I do not support the EDL. The story is being circulated true enough but not just by the EDL.

You can't censor a story because you don't like how it pokes at Islam and muslims.

If its factual then its a news story. Just because you like muslims doesn't mean you can censor anything that criticises one. I don't like football, that doesn't mean it should be censored.

If you read the article it doesn't poke anything towards Islam or muslims. but the reason it was posted is because that is the intention.

Because it mentions Halal, the EDL troll who posted this article does so to stereotype all muslims. Its funny how the EDL get all concerned about animal welfare when KFC introduce the Halal pilot scheme! WTF! It's fucking KFC, they are based on animal exploitation and cruelty!

Similar to the BNP/EDL obsession of posting stories of "muslim" paedo gangs, "muslim" muggers, "muslims" drug dealers -- in themselves, taking it in isolation their is nothing wrong publicising these sickening stories, but they, like the media, who operate on fear and a narrow world view, it ends up being propaganda that is used to radicalise white people into action - no doubt by joining the EDL and BNP.

The EDL is built on accepting baseless rumours as fact, it appeals to those who are already insecure about their futures, and they operate on scare stories and fear. Like their friends in the BNP, they do not rely on rational arguments or critical debate, just reactionary tabloid-style ideas, all the while maintaining every else has been brainwashed by the "liberal marxist elite".

On a purely animal rights site this would be fine, but it does have the whiff of racist troll about it when selectively posted on Indymedia.

If it is being discussed on EDL forums I wonder if we need to guard against entryist racists trying to infiltrate animal rights?

If course if Indymedia had proper user accounts we could see from reputation whether a story was posted from a regular contributor or just a one-off troll account.

The title says butcher...not "Halal Butcher" or "Muslim Butcher". I don't give a fig what religion they are, if they're cruel then ther'ye scum. It's got a bit ridiculous if we can't post up an article about animal cruelty without being accused of being racist or EDL.

If you accuse someone of racism it fuels the EDL's sense of persecution. The butcher's rep is someone called Deborah. Not a Muslim sounding name. she's as bad if she represented them. Does that make me racist, criticising her too?
