Climate Change - Why the Sceptics are Wrong

Julie Filer | 19.05.2010 13:43

‘Greater Manchester Campaign against Climate Change’ (GM CCC) are holding a public meeting on 25th May to dispel any doubts about the reality of climate change and about the role of human activity in causing global warming.

Fred Pearce (author of recently published ‘people quake’ and climate correspondent for the Guardian), and Dr. Alice Bows (scientist at the University of Manchester and the Tyndall Centre) are speaking about the media scepticism surrounding the science of climate change.

The meeting will discuss the science behind the climate change debate what lies behind the increasing denial of climate change by sections of the media and politicians. With space for open discussion about how the climate movement can move forward after the general election, also with the international climate conference (COP16) in Mexico approaching, this is an exciting time to keep climate on the agenda.

Doubts?

Dispel any doubts?

There aren't any doubts about the climate change scaremongering of a few middle class cranks, government paid scientists and vastly rich, high energy usage, multi-homed, frequent flying misanthropes like Prince Charles and Al Gore. Its all hysterical rubbish. Most people are bored by it and sick of the cynical taxes it is used to justify.

Whatever makes you think that some lecturer at a government funded university or a hack at the notoriously authoritarian Guardian can persuade people otherwise?

Have a nice meeting, but don't make the mistake of thinking that the motley bunch of a few oddballs, misfits, control freaks and government paid staff who attend represent anyone except themselves and their own social, political and financial interests.

Pete
