A public meeting has been called in the town of Lydd, Romney Marsh, Kent to 'discuss' to re-instatement of plans for a third nuclear station- Dungeness C on the site.

TOWN & PARISH OF LYDD, Guild Hall, 13 High Street, Lydd
ROMNEY MARSH. TN29 9AF

NOTICE OF A TOWN MEETING:

VENUE: Saturday 13th February 2010 at 11a.m.
in the Lydd War Memorial Institute,
14 Station Road
Lydd TN29 9EB

Notice is hereby given of an Assembly of the Town Meeting for the Town & Parish of Lydd which is open to the public.

The meeting has been convened to consider the exclusion of Dungeness from the list of sites for new nuclear power stations.

Speakers have been invited from a range of bodies interested and involved in the issue. (These include local anti-nuclear campaigners.)

----------------

Sadly, most locals, especially on the Marsh want the site re-instated by the Government mainly on the 'jobs' issue. The local council Shepway, recently lodged a report calling for it and the industry has apparently been geting its friends to lobby for the same.

It could help if people who see this and their anti-nuclear/ green etc groups would write in to the Government to strongly oppose any such re-instatement of Dungeness as a possible site. The Governments current consultation on New Build runs until 22 Feb.

(It should be noted also that a small nearby airport, Lydd, is also trying to expand its operations which most locals and two major groups oppose. One of the two runways points almost directly towards the nuclear site for take offs. (Council planning decision due on March 3.)

Ask them to give you some help if you haven't already. It's scary when they get locals onside ...this is usually done with bribes.

...and scarier still is the plan to build a high level virus containment facility in Kings Cross central London alongside the site where nuclear trains sit. This site is also alongside St Pancras International train station behind the British Library and worse still, on a council house estate.

The UKCMRI have on their own website stated regarding safety "...any germs would, in the event of an explosion or flames, be dispersed and while this sounds dangerous is actually quite reassuring".

The UKCMRI plan to build a high level [3] virus containment facility and animal testing lab in Kings Cross, Camden alongside St Pancras International alongside the Channel Tunnel. The plans have been criticised by MI5 on safety grounds, by MPs, by councillors, local businesses and residents. Local people have been subjected to bullying including rape & death threats from supporters of the lab. Meetings and consultations have been described a cover up. However, scientists from the NIMR have gone to the local newspaper to complain about the lab proposal. Yet..the plans for the lab continue.

The lab could contain anthrax, bird flu, rabies etc. Foot and Mouth disease was leaked from a similar govt facility in Pirbright in Surrey.

There will be a formal "last chance" public [again poorly advertised] meeting in Camden on Wednesday 10th Feb 6.30 - 8.30pm St Mary and St Pancras Primary School, 45 - 47 Polygon Road, Camden NW1.

Good luck with your campaign. We don't need any more nuclear power plants in residential areas.
