A public meeting has been called in the town of Lydd, Romney Marsh, Kent to 'discuss' to re-instatement of plans for a third nuclear station- Dungeness C on the site.
TOWN & PARISH OF LYDD, Guild Hall, 13 High Street, Lydd
ROMNEY MARSH. TN29 9AF
NOTICE OF A TOWN MEETING:
VENUE: Saturday 13th February 2010 at 11a.m.
in the Lydd War Memorial Institute,
14 Station Road
Lydd TN29 9EB
Notice is hereby given of an Assembly of the Town Meeting for the Town & Parish of Lydd which is open to the public.
The meeting has been convened to consider the exclusion of Dungeness from the list of sites for new nuclear power stations.
Speakers have been invited from a range of bodies interested and involved in the issue. (These include local anti-nuclear campaigners.)
----------------
Sadly, most locals, especially on the Marsh want the site re-instated by the Government mainly on the 'jobs' issue. The local council Shepway, recently lodged a report calling for it and the industry has apparently been geting its friends to lobby for the same.
It could help if people who see this and their anti-nuclear/ green etc groups would write in to the Government to strongly oppose any such re-instatement of Dungeness as a possible site. The Governments current consultation on New Build runs until 22 Feb.
(It should be noted also that a small nearby airport, Lydd, is also trying to expand its operations which most locals and two major groups oppose. One of the two runways points almost directly towards the nuclear site for take offs. (Council planning decision due on March 3.)
