Carter Ruck stop the reporting of Parliament

Seems according to the Guardian  http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2009/oct/12/guardian-gagged-from-reporting-parliament they can't report from Parliament now. The infamous Carter Ruck is up to it's tricks again. You must wonder what bit of the public proceedings of parliament  http://www.publications.parliament.uk/cgi-bin/newhtml_hl?DB=semukparl&STEMMER=en&WORDS=trafigura&ALL=trafigura&ANY=&PHRASE=&CATEGORIES=&SIMPLE=&SPEAKER=&COLOUR=red&STYLE=s&ANCHOR=muscat_highlighter_first_match&URL=/pa/cm200809/cmordbk2/91013o02.htm#muscat_highlighter_first_match they can't report about Trafigura and Carter Ruck.

The BBC had some fun too back in September Newsnight did a feature on the issue of the company dumping waste and harming a hell of a lot of people round Sierra Leone  http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/newsnight/8259765.stm The original e-mails are even online  http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/sep/16/trafigura-email-files-read

So what's the new news that makes gagging people worth it. Not that gagging is really helping the case. The information was already out there, and so it's published on the web. In this case it seems it's even already available on UK sites, rather than the usual need to publish internationally (I believe this counts as internationally too). It's trending on twitter at the moment inevitably (try #carter-ruck #guardian #trafigura) In fact the only people who are having difficulty talking about it are the people who happen to be the 'free press' on a small island just off France.

Not the only time...

This is not the first time that Carter-Ruck has been involved with the Trafigura case. After the Mail on Sunday revealed that it had been dumped by internal conman Kevin Halligen and a former cop, Henri Exton, and injunction was obtained preventing the latter’s name being mentioned. But this injunction did not stop the article being re-published on the Crpytome website and if you search Google there are numerous other references.

Carter Ruck also censoring books

Carter Ruck are also behind Amazon being unable to sell John Duignans book The Complex, an expose of the paramilitary and facistic wing of the Church of Scientology.

Maybe it's time to have some activism against Carter Ruck and certain sections of the corporate media. Climate Camp style invasion of Wapping?

coverage

As well as highlighting legal tactics in media coverups, this has has the effect also of bringing back a continuing story that got a fair amount of international coverage a few years ago and which they hoped people, had forgotten ( given the amount of dodgy dumping in Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, and a host of other countries ( sometimes disguised as recycling ) with corporate and Mafia involvement, and dodgy carbon trading schemes etc. :-
