huh?

Is the idea of the demo to complain that the police haven't charged anyone yet? In piggythink thats easily dealt with - crack the whip and convict some activists and that'll justify the cost. 700 grand to inconvenience 114 anarchists is a bargain for the state.

a little confused

Timing

21.06.2009 21:24

I don't think the purpose of the demo is to demand a 'return' on the £700,000 spent on the police actions (to put it bluntly), but more to express anger at the fact the disgraceful actions of the police happened in the first place, regardless of the public's investment (it was our money they pissed away after all). At least I hope that's the case, frankly there's so many more things I'd like to protest against the police about while I'm at it, the past month has given us more than a few reasons to be angry with the police.

Is there a reason for the timing of this demonstration? 9:30 on a Wednesday isn't the best timing to ensure a reasonable turnout. While I'd far rather not have to dedicate so much of my time to work (we could discuss for hours the need to protest vs the need to work etc etc, but let's not get into that now!), it is a commitment that needs to be fulfilled on this particular day, so I won't be able to attend.

Make ourselves heard loud & clear

Response to anon.
The reason why the demo is to be held at 9.30am is that the Notts Police Authority meets at 10am so we need to be outside the County Hall before they go in. The Notts Police Authority includes Councillors, including the new tory ones, as well as police chiefs. Their role is to question the police
chiefs. I hope as people come along as possible.

DISCLAIMER: I am NOT responsible for the actions of other people on that DAY.
