Police spy - details being hidden, AGAIN !

Lenin's ghost | 11.06.2009 10:55

Once again Indymedia editors have hidden a story about police infiltration of the UK animal rights scene. Somebody within Indy needs to come clean about this or at least provide some facts as to who is doing this and why.

 http://publish.indymedia.org.uk/en/2009/06/432104.html?c=all

The link above leads to the original post. The truth is obvious and clear but despite that an Indy editor hid the post and took the time to individualy go through all the comments to the post hiding them as well.

When Adrian Radford was finaly revealed to have been the last AR spy we had seen Indy remove all posts and comments reffering to Radford in the lead up to his Times article despite Indy editors and some SHAC people having known about Radford's activities for several weeks. Those who tried to talk about it were branded as Trolls and posts were classified as Disinformation despite them being true and known to be true by the very people slagging them off.

Now we have a police undercover officer operating right at the heart of the AR scene and having been seen involved in climate camp meetings as well but despite all that Indy editors are trying to hide this information.

Is there a mole in Indy I wonder, a few months ago I would have laughed at such an idea but I'm no longer so sure. I can think of no reason whatsover why this should be hidden, the information is clear, documented and verified by trusted people in the movement and yet Indy hides it. We deserve an explanation.

Nothing new

Indymedia has a long history of covering up details of police informers. Indy Scotland is full of them but nothing ever gets done.

Disinformation

11.06.2009 11:13

I've just searched the database and there are on hidden posts with the name RADFORD in them.

Perhaps the way forward is for these "trusted people in the movement" who have "documented and verified" the information re this informer to contact Indymedia and verify the information. You can use the non-archived email imc-uk-contact at lists.indymedia.org in order to do so.

Well what a surprise

11.06.2009 11:24

Well there's a shock, an attempt to pretend this is disinformation, that wonderfull word Indy editors use when they have no reason to hide a post.

Of course there are no posts with Radford's name in that you twonk at the time he was being written about he wasn't using the name Radford but then I think you knew that didn't you ?

Secondly how likely is it that anybody would trust sensitive information with Indy people at the moment ? I doubt the people who have identified this police woman would want their details kept by the very leaky Indy admins for obvious reasons.

As you claim to be an IMCista please tell us why this post was hidden, what evidence do you have it is disinformation do please remember we can all think back to the last time this excuse was used when we were told by Indy that all information on Radford was disinformation right up until the day his Times article was published.

Someones got a sense of humour

"Perhaps the way forward is for these "trusted people in the movement" who have "documented and verified" the information re this informer to contact Indymedia and verify the information"

Contact Indymedia with sensitive information ? I think that there is very little chance anybody would trust Indymedia UK with information that could lead to the arrest of activists involved in the front line of the AR fight after the SHAC trials.

New rules

11.06.2009 11:39

I see that we have yet more new rules for posting to Indymedia, now a poster has to have information pre-approved or face being hidden by one of the mods.

What the hell has happened to Indymedia, this is obviously important information that could be of benefit to a number of groups and associations but because its animal rights somebody at Indy decides they have to check and approve it in advance ! What total bullshit !

Indy mods have way too much power for what is an open publishing newswire, information like this is what Indymedia is for and if a few people in the animal rights movement are going to be embarrased because they have another police spy then who gives a shit ? Also why do Indymedia mods never give their name when when doing this shit, why is it always 'IMCista' ?

Am I trusted ?

But

11.06.2009 11:41

as they're trusted people who've left their email addresses on the site.

Why would they not be prepared to verify the information, in order to protect other AR activists?

And why are there no hidden posts which contain the word RADFORD?

It seems that something fishy is going on here.

Sarah Lawrence not Laurence

11.06.2009 11:43

Sarah Lawrence is a London cop who works on what is called by the police a response to the threat of domestic extremism in England and Wales. I doubt that is her real name but this was the spelling she used when she tried to get involved with the G20 Climate Camp planning earlier this year.

We sussed her as a cop very quickly and she was politely asked to leave a meeting. Her approach was to offer facilities for printing and for banner making, she knew some of the names of people involved with Climate Camp who came from Birmingham but when we checked with them she was unknown beyond a single meeting. She was seen at the G20 protests in civilian clothes standing near one of the FIT teams but quickly left when she was spotted and somebody shouted her name.

Climate Camp legal team is investigating if this type of policing is legal under the Human Rights act if anybody wants further information please contact us at the email below.

'It seems that something fishy is going on here. '

Something fishy indeed, perhaps the anonymous IMCista could explain why he is selectively hiding comments to this post to make his position look better. This can be seen by going to the View all Posts section  http://publish.indymedia.org.uk/en/2009/06/432116.html?c=all

Trusted

11.06.2009 12:12

Looks like even the climate camp legal team is no longer a trusted source as far as this Indy admin is concerned because their post was hidden as well !!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder how a person or group achieves the mythical trusted status that Indymedia UK now seems to require.

The attempt to distract attention from the important matter of a police informer is very obvious.

Not Disinformation

11.06.2009 12:20

This is not disinformation, it has been the result of three weeks work by four activists who first noticed the use of confidential information in criminal trials. The people are known to me and others and we trust them and the results they have achieved.

I would ask for Indy admins to unhide the original post as it contains vital information that needs to be widely spread.
