a symbol speaks a thousand words and reminds media and police that is was kettling that killed ian tomlinson
Ian Tomlinson died because he and many others were contained in a kettle and no one is allowed out of a kettle no matter how many times they ask. Shoving, pushing and hitting are all police responses to people who get too close to a kettle line. I\an Tomlinson wasn't the only person who was abused by the police tactics on April 1st
Bringing a kettle to the anti violence demo will speak volumes to the media who love images and visual protests. The sight of hundreds or thousands of people with kettles for the Met will be just the kind of protest that tv media will love to show on its evening broadcasts.
The practice of kettling, contrary to the opinions of the law lords is uncivil and antidemocratic. Treating citizens as objects, denying them human necessities of food, water and toilet facilities. If our system wants to pose as democratic and its members as citizens it needs to rethink the way it treats demonstrators exercising their democratic rights
Say No to kettling and to police violence
bring a kettle to the protest
