Vigil for US activist shot by Israeli Forces

Friend | 17.03.2009 13:27 | Palestine | Oxford | South Coast

Vigil to be held on Wednesday the 18th of March from 3 -7pm at the London Israeli Embassy, 2 Palace Green, London

Tristan Anderson, 38, is a US activist who dedicated his life to social change and has been active in many mobilisations particularly in San Francisco, Europe and recently in Iraq and Palestine. He was involved in indymedia and frequently wrote for Indybay (www.indybay.org). Tristan was critically injured last Friday by Israeli troops following a protest against the Israeli wall in the West Bank village of Ni'lin. He was hit in the head by a new type of high velocity, extended range teargas projectile. He received severe head injuries, which resulted in part of his frontal lobe being removed. He is currently in a stable condition and has regained a minor level of consciousness but it is still too early to know what the extent of his recovery will be.

Tristan touched the hearts of those he met and inspired many with his dedication, courage and adventurous spirit. We hope you can join us to show our solidarity with Tristan and for the people of Palestine.

CALL TO VIGIL - OXFORD, UK

We are planning a demonstration and vigil in OXFORD, in solidarity with Tristan Anderson who is critically injured and unconscious in hospital and with the Palestinian people who experience daily brutality and oppression at the hands of the Israeli military. Tristan is the good friend of a Oxford Peace campaigners, who regularly demonstrates alongside Palestinian people in West Bank villages, against the 'separation' wall, the confiscation of Palestinian land, the demolition of Palestinian homes and the oppression of Palestinian people. We seek to show our support to Tristan and others who have been shot be the Israeli forces in this ongoing land grab under the guise of a 'security wall'.and to all the people of Palestine for whom this violence is a commonplace reality of life under occupation.
