Clearwater, FL -- It’s a new year, and drug abuse and those determined to do something about it are no longer on holiday. Members of the Foundation for a Drug-Free World, a secular non-profit organization formed to educate individuals on the dangers of drugs, mobilized their Drug-Free Marshals this weekend and recruited store owners in downtown Clearwater to join their crusade. Leanne Harris and Avory Dale, both 11 years old, expressed their enthusiasm at the opportunity to make a difference.
“I know I’m doing something that might save somebody’s life some day and that makes me feel good.” Said Harris.
The “Drug-Free Marshals” youth drug-education and prevention campaign was formed in 1993, to educate children as young as 6 on the dangers of drugs, and to challenge them to remain drug-free. They demonstrate their commitment by being “sworn in” and, pledging to remain drug-free, as well telling others about the harmful effects of drugs, and encouraging their peers to live drug-free lives.
The Drug-free Marshal help distribute the Foundation for a Drug-Free World’s truth about drugs booklets. These illustrated booklets offer compelling evidence on the dangers of drugs in simple straightforward language. Each is focused on a particular drug with the primary booklet entitled “The truth about Drugs.” They include real life stories from former users and are available in 19 different languages. Some of the titles include The Truth About Heroine, The Truth About Ecstacy, The Truth About Pain Killers and many more. All booklets are available to order at www.drugfreeworld.com

What's this bullshit?

And what's wrong with taking drugs? People have used mind-altering plants since time immemorial, usually considering this a sacred act. A great number of the artists, poets and thinkers who shaped our culture were drug users. Using substances for altering the mind or enhancing its functions is not wrong in itself, what's wrong is the criminalisation of drugs, that, far from resulting in stopping drug use, has the function to put the distribution of drugs in the hands of criminals...with the results that people get hooked on smack, cocaine and crack (the most profitable and addictive of drugs) and profits rocket high for the criminals who sell drugs and recicle the money... These pledges for young people never ot use have never worked - it has been tried in Irealed to limit alcool abuse: almost everybody ends up breaking the pledge. Besides, the problem is not the use of drugs, it is the abuse and the lack of correct information. I have been using drugs for over 30 years and have no regrets at all.
