Animal Rights groups protest against seminar by cruelty lobby

Animal Rights groups were tipped off that the Hunting Association of Ireland was going to be hosting a breakfast seminar this morning to unite groups and companies which have been the subject of protest for their treatment of animals.

The main speaker at the event was Lt. Col. Dennis Foster (US Army, ret'd) who was described as an ''expert on animal rights terrorists" .

A number of groups and individuals decided to have a protest outside the hotel, and see who showed up.

Representatives of restaurants which sell torture foods like foie gras, fur farms, animal circuses, hunts, greyhound and horse racing groups, animal experimenters and others who are involved in cruelty of various sorts were invited.

The organisers had also tried to convince Padraig Walshe, the President of the Irish Farmers' Association to attend, but he had the good sense to stay well away from these extremists.

In the event, the protest outside seemed better attended than the seminar itself, with very few people wanting to get involved with the animal cruelty lobby. (An attempt was made to get a few pictures of the inside for indymedia.ie, but the organisers came all over shy...)

In the autumn the Dáil will debate a new animal welfare bill, and many people are speculating on which way the Green Party will go, given their record in government so far.

In a radio interview on rté this morning, the organiser of the event, Gavin Duffy, claimed that the protesters were actually being paid by shadowy groups from outside Ireland. From the experience of the protesters this morning, it's clear that the only remuneration received was half a bar of vegan chocolate and an apple. At that rate, for a protest which started at 7.30AM and ended at 11, there are definitely better ways of making a living...

Quick diagnosis of the man in the suit

Looks like a good protest- just looking at the man inside the hotel- He's overweight and very red in the face. In my opinion he should cut down or eliminate the meat in his diet and get some exercise. He always needs to avoid stress if he doesn't want to have a heart attack.

Well Done!

Well done for challenging this disgusting seminar. We al know who the 'terrorists' are, those animal abusers. Those with a vested interest in animal cruelty will never go about this evilness without good people opposing it.

Fascism Mounts in Westernized Society

Biased, propagandized reporting fills the airwaves and newspapers around our world, daily. Demonizing those among us who have no other goal, than to protect the helpless from the greed, exploitation, torture and murder they endure at the hands of unethical individuals, corporations and the immoral governments which empower them.

It appears that the CONSERVATIVE FASCIST MOVEMENT is alive and well and going global. Dividing, multiplying and replicating itself exactly like the metastatic cancer it has become.
In the UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Austria, and the U.S., non-violent, socially responsible activism carried out by law-abiding citizens has become--almost overnight--a reason to be targeted by law enforcement. Individual civil liberties have all but evaporated as those within the social welfare movement--those who care about the appalling mistreatment of animals, the poor, and our planet--are systematically singled out and bludgeoned with draconian laws which silence free speech, the right to assemble or to peacefully protest against the REAL terrorists--those occupying the boardrooms and backrooms of the most powerful on the planet. Our prisons are filling up, fast. Charged and given insanely harsh sentences for minor infractions, women and men--innocent victims--and the true heroes in all of this, are bearing the burden of history repeating itself. Like the Jews of pre-WWII Nazi Germany, chosen for annihilation based on ethnicity, the most progressive among human society in today's world are experiencing the beginnings of this same irrational, hate-filled rhetoric. Make no mistake, if allowed to expand and escalate, state-sponsored terrorism WILL end in the same terrible and destructive manner it did barely 60+ years ago. Wherever you live, if you believe in the freedom to actively protest tyranny--then do so NOW--don't wait--like those doomed and tortured souls of our unfortunate recent past, who paid for their silence and apathy not only with their lives, but their dignity.
