Rubbish Police attempt to frame climate camp "weapons stash"

Miss Marple | 05.08.2008 12:08 | Climate Camp 2008 | Climate Chaos

The Police have tried to pull the oldest trick in the book and claim they have found knives, ninja stars and other nasty tools.

What a really rubbish and transparent attempt by the Police to frame the climate camp with their supposed uncovering of a weapons stash in woodland near the climate camp.

Whoever carried this out really doesn't deserve a bonus. Police used to be much better at framing people than this. The Keystone Cops strike again.

The "stash"

05.08.2008 13:37

The police showed off the "stash" on the television. They are being coy about whether they found it all together or it is what they have stolen over past days.

It included rubber gloves (I have some in my house), a D-lock (I use one to lock my bike with), the now famous board games, a lifejacket, a wetsuit and other things which were undoubtedly not for maiming horses, dogs or even police officers.

There were also some large knives. I have two large knives in my house and I take them with me when camping. Very useful for cutting things. Presumably the vegan meals are being prepared with the use of knives.

They didn't have the guy ropes on display. Perhaps even they are embarrassed by the theft of those.

That leaves the "death star". Not a particularly useful weapon to use against horses, dogs or police officers, as it is generally a one shot device.

Quite possibly the "death star" was planted by the police or some other organ of the Labour Party. There is no independent oversight of the whole process. If it was really found by the police near the camp then that proves nothing. It could well have been left by a local, either to smear the camp or as part of some gang battle.

The police are trying to smear the campers, just as they have done elsewhere.

Mud sticks that's the problem - while the BBC article does say the police confirmed that they had no evidence that the weapons were connected to the camp, or that anyone at camp had any intention of using them - Kent Online runs the following headline:

"Weapons, including throwing star, seized at climate camp"
