Over a week ago now I visited the planned opencast coal mine and took some photos of recent work. Obviously, things will have changed in the last week, but I hope this post is usefull to some.

To explain the various things going on, I've marked a few points of interest as well as the open cast areas.

Points of interest
A The squatted building known as "Bodge House".
B A rather nice protected woods.
C The area which will become the site office.
D Will be where processing is done and "plant" is kept.
E UK coal's access road which is currently being constructed and will run down through points C and D.

Open cast areas
1 First to be mined, working in strips which run North to South, moving Eastward. Won't take long, only 3 strips.
2 Next up, working in strips, moving Westward to meet area 1. 12 strips this time.
3 Eventually this will be mined, too, in strips moving Eastwards to area 4.
4 This one is last. The short strips run East-West and they will work from South to North.
