You obviously haven't met many of these "corporate-types". They will jump at the chance for the latest gadget - especially if it's stylishly designed, surronded by hype and they can get the company to pay for it. This is why Apple hand out Macs to journalists like they're going out of fashion - and it works. They get lots of journos and reviewers praising their products in a way that average joe user will listen to.

Apple are actually increasing their market share as they are concentrating on the home market - this is where people actually *choose* what they want instead of being issued with it. With computers reaching the stage where even my most technically illiterate friends know to stay well away from Vista, Apple's "it just works" image is helping to win converts. The popularity of the iPod+iTunes are also helping to push this as it is often the most commonly used program on the computer.

If you are going to cast aspersions about someone's intelligence, at least get you grammar correct. I think you were aiming for, but I can't be certain:

But if you've already decided that a Mac is unsuitable, then the bottom line cannot be "What do you need to do?" as you've made your decision before examining their needs.

Mac OS doesn't use autoexec.bat, no average user will ever encounter jumper switches on *any* system and no system needs you to memorise a list of IRQ addresses to use it.

Windows makes you delete something in explorer and then remove it from the recycle bin (and then later empty the hidden \Recycler folder). Are you sure you're not confusing removing a program and removing it's associated files?

MacOS is based on FreeBSD, it does not use DOS. You're probably thinking of the terminal client. Why would Apple decide to get rid of their own code and rewrite their operating system to use someone else's proprietary code?



I'm no Apple fanboy, but if you're going to have a go at them at least choose a genuine issue. They are a large corporation and will try to cut corners with materials to bring down price. They are excesively controlling over the products they sell to the point that they will deliberately design firmware upgrades to brick the hardware if the owner has made unauthorised changes. They are anti-competitive and use regional licensing to screw the customer out of as much money as possible. And so forth...
