Arms Manufacturers in Norwich Blockaded and given a Weapons Inspection

Norfolk Bob | 07.09.2007 11:22 | DSEi 2007 | Anti-militarism | Cambridge

Today at 0630am a small group of activists locked shut the gates of Norwich based arms manufacturer MSI.....

..... A low loader lorry which arrived, it is believed, to transport equipment to the DSEi arms fair was also locked on to by an activist after it forced its way through the barricade already set up. Simultaneously another small group had entered from the rear of the compound and inspected the facility, taking photos, climbing on roofs and leaving a couple of banners as a memento of their visit. They found a number of doors unlocked and equipment lying around. With all employees safely locked on the other side of the gate the inspectors were free to carry out their duties without interference from company management, who have been known to be less than cooperative in the past.

Some perspective

Norfolk Bob,

the caption on one of your pictures is,

"workers were desperate to get to their jobs.... "

So a local employer in an area of high unemployment has a workforce which tries hard to circumvent the actions of a few selfish individuals. This tells me that:

a) these workers were not in any way influenced by your petty minded actions

b) the employer is a good one with enthusiastic staff willing and keen to work

c) these same working class people woud be out of a job if you succeeded in closing their business. (the work of course would continue just outside of the UK)

These selfish attacks on the jobs of working class people simply disgust me. Your and your little band of camp followers should be ashamed of yourselves and I hope you end up looking as stupid as the student group who tried and failed to close EDO/MBM in Brighton.

Bob needs a job

Leave them alone

09.09.2007 09:11

When will you sad people leave these law abiding people alone. You have absolutely no understanding of the threats and pressures in todays world and your ideology would have us walk blindly into a terrible future dominated by the minority extremists. Grow up.

Terrible sufferring inflicted on innocent people !

09.09.2007 09:25

As we all know, the actions of a few minorities are causing terrible sufferring to innocent people. The picture above is proof of this - the poor woman appears to have already been dragged along the road by the low loader and forced to wear humiliating clothes and badges and as if to prove that the perpetrators have no mercy, foced to tuck trousers into socks!

Stop the sufferring!

damsel is distressed

Rare damsel - I presume your words are about the arms dealers - they fit well. if not, I think you really need to get out more from your hibernation from the real ways of the world we live in.

Whether something is lawful or not does not make it right - indeed, many of the social freedoms we and others have today have been fought for and only won through serious law-breaking.

Thanks for the above highly constructive comment, Mr. Troll.

Nice to see that we have your moral support, and that you have such a clear conscience regarding the killing for profit of the Military Industrial Complex.

Feel free to post an advert for BAE or Rolls Royce next.
