A pilot scheme involving lie-detecting technology is to be used to screen benefit claimants in Harrow

The Department of Work & Pensions has announced a pilot scheme to use lie-detecting technology to screen benefit claimants in Harrow. Voice risk analysis technology already in use in the insurance industry analyses changes in caller's voice to give an indication of the level of risk but will be used to screen claimants for housing benefit and council tax benefit, and will be extended to users of Jobcentre Plus later in the year.
