Interesting post JTD. It appears that Steele never actually left the SP, though they are aware of his conversion to fascism. His change of poilitics is as genuine as that of any other shallow crank. He now thinks the world is run by "ZOG", even denies his Jewish heritage. He did not tell the BPP of his past. Steele's attempt to join Antifa was nipped in the bud at a very early stage, and he has had no formal involvement with anarchist groups. While this seems a thoroughly weird story my own life has been stranger lately so I'll accept it. There was a really good movie from Canada on TV a few years back, b/w I think, that mimics this story - a young Jewish man joins a fascist group and eventually bombs a synagogue. I can't remember the name and it is hard to search on terms like these to idenify it, maybe someone else saw it ? I'm still confused if Steele is meant to be a double or treble cross agent, and therefore of the reasons for this post.

These things I know :
Cherry red DMs are beautiful and apolitical;
People have a right and perhaps duty to consider rejecting their heritage;
Grassing on fascists and agents isn't really grassing, it's weeding.

From my recent experience, very easy, easier than it is to expose them. They not only operate in muddied waters, they have an invisible and well-funded support structure (PR & resources & funding & other agents & backroom staff) to help back them up. From recent personal experience I'd say very careful rather than worried, depending on their structure. I was just about dropped off a bridge myself last week and I'm retired. I'd guess the animal rights groups have the least to fear as they seem to have the best security due to having the heaviest persecution in recent years. I'm itching to say more at this point but know this would do more damage than good. Tight structures, small groups, and good procedures such as 'need to know', 'question everything', 'too good to be true', and then there is less need for paranoia.

This are excellent discussion points but this isn't the place to raise them. For reasons that should be obvious. Talk to your own group about this and come up with your own solutions.

Because I can only see the good in people and am such an easy going trusting sort of bloke, I took this young man at face value. I even feel sorry for the mixed up little geek.

Why do some people at Indymedia have such a bizarre attitude to antifascist threads? This is a story that deserves GREATER prominence, not LESS.
