for those of us who rarely watch the box. What was the programme about? Do you have any specific examples of what the content was? Anything ... ?

it was in all but name a party political broadcast by clarke giving him full rein to extoll the wonders of identity cards. in it he clearly stated that all citizens would have to submit DNA samples and that the cards would contain a staggering amount of highly personal information about the bearer. apart from a very brief interview with chakrabarti, all the other interviewees were carefully selected to be wildly enthusiastic about id cards. they chose highly emotive examples like a very rare instance of how a patient who had died from complications because a hospital had not known what drugs her gp had already prescribed.

i became increasingly angry by the minute as i watched this vile propaganda unfurl. Normally channel 4 is one of the more enlightened channels but this was a truly disgraceful piece of program making. i'd urge everyone to complain to ch4 using the link above. it will have an effect. remember that they do take notice of complaints as each complaint typically represents the views of thousands of people who do care but just can't be arsed to complain.
