Whitby Today is appealing to witnesses who saw this mystery plane, a rendition flight? something worse? Any ideas anyone?
Mystery of town's low-flying jet
A MYSTERIOUS low-flying plane was spotted over Whitby on Friday afternoon by residents heading in the direction of Teesside.
The jet, which passed over the town at about 4pm, looked like a passenger aircraft but pictures taken by Whitby Gazette photographer Doug Jackson show the plane had no windows or markings on the side.
An RAF Fylingdales spokesperson said it was not a military plane and that they had no record of the flight.
The plane was seen flying with its nose pointing up as if coming in to land but did not have its landing gear down.
It appeared to be heading in the direction of Durham Tees Valley airport.
