Assassination attempt on Nick Griffin or belated April Fool?

Lancaster UAF | 03.04.2006 17:44 | Anti-racism | Repression | Social Struggles

The BNP has reported what it claims was an attempt by Swedish Communists to murder its leader, Nick Griffin.

A delegation of BNP officials travelled over to Stockholm to help launch the campaign of the National Democratic Party (another nazi group) which is contesting the national parliamentary elections due to take place in September. Griffin was accompanied by his wife Jackie, Sadie Graham the BNP Group Development Officer and Martin Reynolds.

The delegation, along with several of their Swedish hosts, boarded a commuter train in the capital, Stockholm, on Saturday afternoon as they travelled away from the election launch venue. Details are vague, says the BNP (non-existent at this point, in fact) but it is believed that a tip-off was made to a Stockholm radio station who alerted the police, who in turn stopped and evacuated the train.

Swedish Police have not yet provided any details of which, if any, group is claiming responsibility.

More details seem a tad hard to get as nobody seems to be reporting it... ;-)

Found a report...

Found a report but what a crock of shit.
..........
Swedish police found an explosive on a commuter train in the southern Stockholm suburb of Södertälje Saturday.

The device lacked a detonator, but was otherwise complete.

The small xenophobic National Democratic Party was holding a meeting nearby. The police believe anti-fascist extremists may have brought the explosive but left it behind when they saw the extra security at the station.

..........

"This story appears to not be what was first thought, the news coming from Sweden is that some anti-racists were taking a small explosive device to protest a National Democratic Party meeting, in Stockholm, and they arrived at the station, saw the level of security, and panicked, leaving the device on the train, without a detonator.

Later on, having a fear of the consequences of a discarded explosive device on a train, they contacted a local radio station, police were alerted, the train cleared and the device found.

It is purely coincidental if Nick Griffin was on the same train.

There is no way they could have known his schedule, and there is no way they could have known that the train they arrived on would be rescheduled to that route at a later time.

The device was very small, and designed to cause a bang, rather than to actually injure anyone, so at present it appears that it was just a bunch of yellow protestors, who lost their nerve and left an oversized firecracker on a train, without a detonator, and not an attempt to kill anyone, nor was anyone in real danger."

The BNP - putting the spin into bullshit!
