Malian Riot Police stopped a march of WSF participants today, who were on their way to the French embassy to demand the stop of deportations of illegalised migrants from France and Europe. The network NoVox http://no-vox.org called for the demostration to demand from the French governement papers for all sans-papiers.
The demonstration left from the conference centre, where during the last days several migration related workshops have been taken place. On the way to the embassy, malian riot police blocked the road. After 1 hour of negotiations it became obvious, that the police was firm and there was no way to reach the french embassy with the march.
Activists from NoVox said, that the malian police was probably checking with the french embassy and were told to stop the march from getting anywhere close to the embassy.
Meanwhile about 60 Malian migrants who were expelled from Ceuta and Melilla during the tragic events in September
