BNP in (yet another) own goal

Some Indymedia readers may remember the Gandalf case from about ten years back when the editors of Green Anarchist were jailed for inciting readers to commit criminal damage. Readers will probably also recall other eco-activists and animal-rights activists who have been jailed for much the same thing; all of them for worthy causes.

The British National Party, an unworthy cause if ever I saw one and ever ready to ignore the law of the land, have decided to take a stand and incite its membership and the readers of their website to commit criminal damage in pursuit of their own appalling cause. Presumably, like the Green Anarchists, they're prepared to stick to their principles and go to jail for what they believe.

The BNP have suggested on their ghastly page here:

the following:

'When you next go to the (sic) Tesco/ASDA/Sainsbury's/Morrisons etc., take a handful of Goodfella's pizzas from the freezer cabinet. Don't overdo it! If a few minutes later you decide you do not want these pizzas, the purchase of which is helping to fund anti-white racist filth spewed out by ITV/Granada then just pop the pizzas somewhere else. After 15 mins. they will be partially thawed and supermarket staff encountering these soggy pieces of cardboard will have to bin the items. '

A clear breach of the law from the ever-hypocritical BNP, who claim to be the 'law and order party'.

I'd recommend that all readers of this article contact their local police, and their local and national newspapers to demand that the BNP are done for incitement to commit a criminal act. If nothing else, we'll all get a good laugh when Nick Griffin is re-arrested following the end of his court case. :-)

I've said it before and I'll say it again, there's no room for this kind of journalism on IndyMedia. It seems the UK section of this site has become nothing more than a blog for the UAF, quite sad that you're resorting to pushing your agenda as factual news.

Don't know what you're whining about. It IS factual news. Of course, the BNP have hastily removed that section from their website (they're so principled) but too late, the police already have it on record.

The Promotion of Coronation Street by Goodfellas is managed by an award winning Advertising Agency. Far be it from me to reveal names. But they also do the
acceptable facings for Close the Gap Equal Pay, Crimestoppers UK. Maybe the BNP would like to contact them and apologise for affecting their business - just to ensure they retain the all important Iron Cross of Law and Order.

That is before some concerned citizen (of Staffordshire, Lancaster or Hull - it matters not) contacts them and suggests that it might be a good idea to get together a little innovative publicity for one client off the ruining of the reputation of another. Maybe the next Photographer at Leeds will be testing the Photogenicity of Fascists for a Poster Campaign for Crimestoppers UK...

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect impartial journalism free of ad-hominem attacks the like of 'moron', 'hypocrites', 'idiots', 'scum' and all of the other slurs thrown out in UAF penned 'news' on this site. Check out Andrew Norfolk's reporting of Griffin's trial in The Times for example. I'm sure he's no fan of the BNP, but he's still managing to put forth an unbiased account of events, as opposed to the opinionated tripe posted around here. Can anybody seriously expect neutral journalism on this issue from UAF of all people?

Oh and whilst we're on the topic of criminality, how many of your guys were arrested at Leeds again?

Don't be an idiot. Even the BNP know that people are arrested for trivial rubbish at potentially dodgy demo's like this. One guy was arrested because he walked up the wrong side of the barrier to give a message to his girlfriend.

If you expect impartial journalism, what the fuck are you doing at Indymedia? Wouldn't you be a lot better off reading Voice of Freedom (that's humour, by the way)?

Hypocrite, scum, moron...sorry, don't see a problem with any of those words when they're addressed to the BNP. Get a grip.

If I'm such an idiot, why did you feel the need to delete my comment? Bit too much common sense for your liking? Whether or not I suppose the BNP, I wouldn't expect impartial journalism for this topic from either of the two involved parties but rather an impartial third party, which is exactly what IndyMedia should be. I would be just as pissed off to see the BNP abusing IndyMedia to push their own agenda as I am seeing this. As for the use of insults in your articles, that's the problem, just because _you_ don't see a problem with any of those words it doesn't mean anybody cares. It's nothing but opinions and has no place in credible journalism; when you're acting like this I imagine some of those terms would fit you quite nicely.

I think you misunderstand Indymedia. It has never claimed to be impartial. It is to promote Social Justice issues and to offer a non-corp non-commercial view, countering the persistent corportate view we are given from most other media.

What reporting is really impartial - at least Indymedia is clear
