National Fishing Week

Fun for all

National Fishing Week 2005 is an opportunity to introduce new people to angling and is supported by a wide range of famous names from tackle manufacturers to TV stars. National Fishing Week will attempt to attract up to 200,000 first time or 'lapsed' anglers to join Britain's four million regular anglers. It will particularly try to attract young people, women, the disabled, pensioners and ethnic groups to the sport in a push which ties in with the Government's ambitions to encourage people to lead a healthier and more active lifestyle. Angling supports those aims because it gets people out of doors, gives them a hobby they can enjoy in the countryside and helps them relax in what is becoming an increasingly stressful society.

If you want to go fishing, and you need to know where to go, log onto the National Fishing Week 2005 website. Whether you want to try Coarse, Sea, or Game fishing the site has information on your nearest events. Many of the events will provide expert tuition from the country's leading licensed coaches and the majority will offer easy access from road and public transport. Many also cater for people with disabilities.
