Several hundred people joined this years Sharrow Lantern Carnival which took music and dancing to the streets of Sharrow before a grand finale in the park off Cemetery Road.

The theme of this years carnival was 'the world you want to see' which left lantern makers pretty open to design almost anything nice. The biggest lantern was a huge globe which was carried in several segments on the carnvial before being assembled in the park at the finale.

Although not overtly political several people said it had the feel of Sheffield Reclaim the Streets party in 1997.

The Sheffield Samba band provided a soundtrack for the carnival whilst dancers and costume makers added dancing and cool costumes.
