Update on Blackwood and the Sherriff-Egg saga.

Boris the Egg | 25.05.2004 07:41 | Ecology | Oxford

An update on the alledged sherriff egging and the situation at Blackwood.
Another will follow after Fridays court appearance.

SHERIFF AND THE EGG.

Boris will appear in court again (this) FRIDAY 29TH MAY at CAERPHILLY MAGISTRATES WALES at 11am for a Pre-Trial hearing.
At a plea hearing on 27th April Boris pleaded not-guilty to a charge under section 5 of the public order act. The prosecution offered a bindover but only if Boris addmitted throwing stones at the Sherriff (a blatant lie from the police statement). As Boris has refused to accept this slur against his good name it is likely that he will have to return to Wales at least twice more (for a pre-trial hearing and then a trial) before a final verdict is given
The charges relate to an incident during which Boris is alledged to have thrown an egg at the Sheriff during eviction of the Blackwood road protest tree camps in March

BLACKWOOD UPDATE (SLIGHTLY OLD)

(27th April – More up-to-date news welcome)
Work on the Bypass continues. Trees where camp Jordan used to be have a temporary reprieve because of nesting brids (although by costains definition this may end soon)
Cardiff Anarchist Network have direct action days every Tuesday. Still potential for “digger diving” and pixie actions which can cost the company a lot of money.

Update - Next egg hearing Tuesday 15th June 12noon Blackwood

01.06.2004 08:24

At the hearing on the 28th May the case was adjurned until TUESDAY 15TH MAY at 12 NOON BLACKWOOD MAGISTRATES. This was due to the defence needing more time to examine the prosecution videos which were only produced the day before! The next hearing will be another pre-trial hearing to determine what evidence will be shown. The trial itself is likely to be in July and could see a final showdown between Boris and the Sheriff as he is likely to have to give evidence. The prosecution have still not dropped the stone throwing allegation.

BLACKWOOD SITUATION
Work still ongoing, actions are too - but still potential for a lot more. If you want to come to court in Blackwood this could easily be combined with a day of action.
