I wa told by dixons that I had a job that would either be starting on monday or the monday after as I was a reserve. I turned up on the first monday and was told to my face that I would be starting the following monday. When I turned up I was told my name had been taken off the list because I've got purple hair. They hadn't bothered to ring me and tell me so I'd signed off the dole and stopped looking for jobs. They only bothered to tell me when I actually turned up ready to work after spending the last three weeks thinking I had secured a job, which I thought was a disgusting way to be treated.

damn dirty ape

may be a while ago now but have you considered making a formal complaint or suing Dixons for your loss of income through the Small Claims Court? Get a quick bit of advice from a solicitor or just get the small claims form from county court/combined court...

these might be able to help
