Bush state visit to spark protests ...

 http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/articles/6902360?source=Evening%20Standard

Anti-war protesters today vowed to swamp London streets when George Bush makes a state visit as guest of the Queen from 19-21 November.

Police are planning the biggest security operation ever seen in Britain, amid fears of terrorist attacks, and that tensions over Iraq will cause violence.

President Bush will stay at Buckingham Palace and will be honoured by a state banquet. He will hold talks with Tony Blair and may be invited to address Parliament.

The trip is a payback for the rapturous greeting given to Tony Blair in July by the US Congress for his backing over Iraq.

Andrew Murray, of the Stop the War Coalition, said the protest could attract record crowds.

The anti-war movement should get real

26.09.2003 15:32

President Bush is not a brutal dictator like Saddam was. He is the head of a democracy. Has not committed atrocities or terrorised his people. Bush decided to invade Kuwait because Saddam was such a brutal dictator, had no respect for human life and was a serious threat to both his own people and other countries proven by his past record. If he had remained in power and aquired nuclear weapons the world would be in a very dangerous situation.
In short Bush acted in what he thought were the best interests of the world when he delcared war on Iraq. It was not a war of conquest but a war of justice and a war of liberation.
The war to remove Saddam's regime has removed one of the worst tyrannical regimes in history. It has paved the way for democracy in Iraq. It has shown that brutal dictators cannot do as they please. It has sent a message to other rogue regimes like Noth Korea and Iran that they cannot oppress and terrorise their neighbours and get away with it. It has shown that the free world is dedicated to stopping the spread of weapons of mass destruction.

Say hello to Mr Bush

26.09.2003 16:23

I wonder if Mr Bush will get a rapturous greeting from the UK Parliament for leading Mr Poodle into an illegal war? We will at least find out how representative our "representatives" are.

I hope people make F*UK BUSH posters and display them along the street. Ripping them down, blocking the view of them or arresting anyone with these posters will take a lot of police time. See  http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/scotland/2003/07/274417.html for details of just one disgraceful police action.

'Bare Your Bum at Bush'

'Bare Your Bum at Bush'

Latest News - The President of the United States has accepted an invitation from The Queen to pay a State Visit to the United Kingdom from Wednesday 19th November to Friday 21st November 2003.

Objective
To collectively voice our displeasure at the impending arrival of George W Bush in the UK and in doing so either sour the experience or prevent his arrival.

Background
George W. Bush has already cancelled one visit to this country because he felt more than a little unwelcome. The man is terribly secretive about state visits, but Laura Bush recently let slip that a visit to the UK is being planned sometime in autumn. Our aim is to give the man the bum's rush before he even arrives and/or show him exactly what we think of him in the finest British tradition.

Method
George Bush is unlikely to walk around the streets kissing babies because of the large number of people that wish to blow him up. However, a 'Brits love Bush' photo-op of happy crowds greeting the man may be in the offing and it's vitally important that we rob him of such a lucrative propaganda device. By attending such gatherings (by accident or design) and ensuring that you bare your buttocks as he passes by, you either render any photos taken at that moment unusable or make a very clear indication of what Britain thinks of this bigoted warmonger.

Baring Your Bum

If you hear of a visit to your part of town or happen to see George W Bush, bare your arse in his general direction. Don't be afraid to wiggle it about a bit and maybe even spread your cheeks; this is a political statement you're making and you don't want to do things by halves, now do you?

I've read a few comments made by this arsehole Rockwell and have so far resisted commenting on his crap.

But this time I just want to say to Rockwell PISS OFF! You're a wanker OK!

Please everyone who can get to the demo in London tomorrow, please do so, I am going in the memory of my late nephew Thomas Thompson (who took his own life), who was before his premature death in July this year a ferocious opponant of the war and occupation of Iraq, please go for him.

Democracy????

26.09.2003 22:54

The very FACT that Bush currently exercises supreme executive power in the US *proves* that the country *IS NOT* a "democracy". Democracy implies rule according to the will of the people. More people voted for Gore than Bush, yet he still wields power due to (a) an insane electoral college system and more importantly (b) OUTRIGHT ELECTORAL FRAUD committed by the Republican party and members of Bush's family. He only made it to the White House because five of the Supreme court judges had Republican ties, compared to four with Democrat ties.

Bush and Blair gone

26.09.2003 23:24

Well, they may yet pull a fast one. A real overtake of the 9/11 scenario What would be the purpose of this? Surely it would have been easier to plant WMD evidence in Iraq rather than scrub it clean.
Perhaps that's not the intent - perhaps it's a most blatant display of how public opinion may be switched this way then that.
At the moment, anyone with a scintilla of insight sees the the Bush and Blair regimes as destined for the Big Fall as their corruption becomes palpably exposed, and the worry is about what nightmare falsehhods a traumatised public may accept as substitutes
However the real worry is that the powers that be view this all as a manipulable game, as they undoubtedly do, and that the whole evolving situation may be reversed by a 9/11 Redux

Why you lot are wrong

27.09.2003 09:28

You lot are wrong on many points. For example you keep harping on about Israel being a rogue state but Israel is surrounded by hostile neighbours who for decades wanted to destroy it. Israel has only ever fought defensive wars in response to hostile attacks by its neighbours. Israel is targetted daily by suicide bombers it therefore can't pull out its troops from the occupied terrortries until hostilities against it cease. It must defend itself to survive!

You are also wrong in saying that Bush and Blair are war criminals. They are heads of democracies who went through a democratic proccess with debates and votes in Parliament and Congress on what to do about Iraq. It was because of Iraq's non compliance with UN inspectors since 1991 that the war happened. And anyway they overthrew a tyrannical, genocidal regime that murdered and oppressed millions of people. Surely it is right to overthrow such terrible regimes is it not?

You harp on about other bad regimes like Indonesia and Colombia but when action is taken against one brutal regime you delpore the action because other brutal regimes have been ignored. You miss the reasons why the regime which was targetted was attacked. The targetted regime was attacked because it was a serious threat to world peace. We can't attack every brutal regime that would be impossible but we can act when a brutal regime threatens world peace!

.. put away your crayons ..

27.09.2003 16:37

.. and start making some connections ..

.. between the cosy relationships that exist between transnational companies, dictators & the foreign policies of those countries that you like to call democracies.

Or else, stop inflicting upon us your purile & nieve take on your daily mail mediated reality (singular).

Your views are becoming less stimulating by the minute, surely you don't intend to keep up this banal attempt to justify this black & white hat philosophy?

I don't want to throw any spiteful comments your way (not least because I have the nagging suspicion that maybe you are acting as a benign provocatuer!), but you can hardly blame others for both rejecting and resenting your imbecilic presence ...

Perhaps "Rockwell" could study more history

28.09.2003 17:49

Rockwell's latest outburst says that the Israeli armed forces cannot leave occupied territories. Sorry, that's exactly what they did in Lebanon after their invasion failed to do any good. They scuttled away with their tail between their legs.

The criminal responsible for that invasion, who was also directly responsible for the massacre of many refugees, is currently Prime Minister of Israel. The USA and UK have not done anything to bring this mass murderer to court.

2 Rockwell with understanding

28.09.2003 20:00

You shouldknow I do not dismiss you like few others.
I read your crap as it does give an insight into the majority fuckup that is the 'west'.
It is almost as if I should have taken up role like yourself and posted such crap instead of going on being straight and blunt.

You are the voice of the local silent braindead majority (although a big global minority) and there is no denying that...............
What you need is a show of strength from the minority who feel so strongly about issues you do not even know exist. Then and only then will your eyes will open.

> We can't attack every brutal regime that would be impossible but we can act when a brutal regime threatens world peace!

Yes. Especially so when the pigscum is so concentrated it can be scooped up and guilotined in Marble Arch. We may play football afterwards too. All for world peace and your education will be also guaranteed although secondary.
