cyclist injured by police in unprovoked attack

At about 7.30 last night (Thursday 11th September) at the demo outside the Lancaster Hotel (Lancaster Gate tube)blond rob from Reclaim the Streets was attacked by a police officer as he rode round the hotel. Completely unprovoked, an officer lashed out at him with his baton as he cylcled passed. This has left him with severe nerve damage which required him to attend hospital last night, again this morning, and again for an operation tomorrow.

He was wearing a black t-shirt and trousers, and has short, spiky blond hair. If anyone saw this happen can you please contact the Legal Defence Monitoring Team at  ldmgmail@yahoo.co.uk or  chimaerasound@hotmail.com

i was with several other people walking towards the samba band who had arrived a few minutes earlier in the road outside the entrance to the royal lancaster hotel. we were approaching from the left (as you look at the hotel entrance). there were several police standing in the road (i think with yellow jackets but not 100% sure) and they bagan to push and try to grab people as they went past, it was here i saw the guy on the ground in obvious agony clutching his arm. several people gathered around him and at least two of us crouched down and put our hands up at a couple of police who seemed that they were about to attack people again.

i saw several instances of very violent behaviour from the police that night against what was a noisy but peaceful protest.
