*Reporting the Protests*

A list of events - protests, actions, vigils, meetings etc is here:
 http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2003/08/276066.html

There will be a couple of spaces for co-ordination, meetings for volunteers who want to get involved and limited net access - see below.

Reporting telephone numbers will be made available for people to report events, including a main telephone number for indymedia reports for the website and one to leave audio msgs for uploading to the website - great for on-the-spot interviews (note: these numbers will not give out information). Remember to give clear reports - what where when etc - but do not incriminate yourself!

Please dont publish people's faces!!!!!

04.09.2003 10:29

Please make sure that the faces of people taking part in demos, actions, meetings or anything else that is photographed or filmed are covered. This is fairly easy to do, but takes a little time. This basic security measure will slow down indymedia's covering of the DSEi events, but if it is a part of the movement it also needs to take responsibility for the security of those taking part in actions.

Other Indymedia sites manage to only publish pictures with people's faces covered, and to hide pictures and films published on the newswire that cover people's faces. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make sure the same happens here.

Nice one for putting so much work into covering the events!!!!!

some faces will be published they always are

many of the events from vigils to actions will be done by people happy to have their faces published - for example the people who will be blockading on the nvda day and prepared to be arrested for their actions

people should use common sense on other actions - do not take pictures of people doing anything incriminating

that said even crowd shots when nothing is happening can help police identify people

on the flip side there's loads of cctv cameras in the area just ready to monitor 24*7, and there will be a lot of police cameras everywhere - activists coming from abroad will not be so used to this, but here in the uk the cops film and photograph everyone - the uk is one of the most surveilled societies in the world

masking up can look nice too :-) now where did i leave that j18 mask?
